Machine Embroidery Fun
Join us to learn Mary’s recipe for success with machine embroidery. No matter what embroidery machine you own, you’ll learn to select the ingredients for successful embroidery. This recipe includes: Fabric, Design, Stabilizer, Hooping, Thread, and Needle. During class, students will stitch out two designs on kitchen towels featuring lettering and appliqué, custom-created by the instructor for this class.
In this class, you will:
- Gain confidence using your embroidery machine
- Learn to select the right fabric, design, stabilizer, hooping method, thread, and needle
- Be inspired to return for more advanced embroidery classes
- Leave with both designs on a USB
Supply & Equipment Lists
Equipment
- Embroidery machine with embroidery unit
- 120x120mm hoop (or larger)
- Machine embroidery foot, power cord, foot pedal, and user’s manual
- Basic sewing supplies (seam ripper, thread clippers, water-soluble fabric marker, needle)
Supplies
- 2 smooth kitchen towels (no waffle weave or terry cloth)
- Two 4" pieces of olive and orange fabric for appliqués
- Embroidery and bobbin threads
- Washaway stabilizer
- USB thumb drive

| Instructor Bio: | Mary has been sewing for over 60 years and has made all her clothes since she was in the 8th grade. For the past four years, she has taught beginner sewing, garment sewing, bag making, and various projects, including pillows, table toppers, placemats, and other home decor items. Mary is knowledgeable about all major brands of sewing machines, embroidery machines, sergers, and cover stitch machines. Additionally, she has over 40 years of experience teaching in public high schools. |
